Financial Assistance Resources

Richmond Adult Technical Center (RATC) does not directly provide financial assistance or tuition funding for students. However, we are committed to helping students explore available resources that may assist with educational expenses.

The organizations and programs listed below offer funding opportunities for eligible individuals. We encourage you to review each resource to determine whether you meet the qualifications and application requirements.

Please note that funding eligibility, application deadlines, and award availability are determined by the individual organizations and are subject to change.

We encourage you to contact the funding provider directly if you have questions regarding eligibility, the application process, or available assistance.

  • Flyer for the Virginia Career Works Capital Region Career Advantage Program. The program serves young adults ages 18–24 who are not in school and live in Richmond, Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent, or Charles City. Services include career readiness workshops, occupational skills training, paid work experience (WEX), soft skills training, apprenticeships, and more.   • The Documents provide step by step instructions to complete the application and registration for the WIOA program - Workforce Innovative Opportunity Act Program.  Remember you will need to upload a copy of the following documents to help complete enrollment.  You will be uploading the copies to our Database called MyOneFlow.  That information is in the step-by-step instructions in the attachment.

    You will need to have a profile on this website

    Documents to upload:   

    • Driver’s License 
    • Copy Social Security Card 
    • Copy Birth Certificate or Unexpired U.S Passport 
    • The Selective Service Verification - All males after age 18 should be registered.  That link can provide a letter that you can upload after you get your verification if you registered.
    • Copy your resume if you have one 
    • Copy of your latest Paystub if working – Or Approved Unemployment Benefits Document

    If wanting the Class A CDL training:  

    You will need a CDL Learner's Permit from DMV and a Copy of DMV driving Record with either zero or plus points (You cannot have any negative points to be able to move forward to training.  

    The Enrollment Coordinator is Kim Young - Email:  Kim.Young@equusworks.com.  After completing the application and uploading the needed documents, wait at least a week or two and if you haven't received an email from our enrollment coordinator, please email him to find out your status towards completing your enrollment.

  • This course is ideal for individuals seeking employment in the skilled trades or those interested in beginning a career in the growing floor covering and construction industry.

  • Flyer for Moving Forward Agency (MFA), a workforce development organization that helps individuals identify career pathways through assessments, education and training, workplace skills development, and career placement.   • Scholarships are available for much more than traditional four-year college degrees. Students pursuing careers in skilled trades and technical fields may also qualify for a wide range of scholarship opportunities. Whether you're interested in becoming an electrician, HVAC technician, automotive technician, welder, machinist, or another skilled professional, financial assistance may be available to help you achieve your career goals.

    Today's career pathways offer more flexibility than ever before. Technical training programs, career and technical education centers, community colleges, apprenticeships, and industry certification programs provide valuable alternatives to traditional college, allowing students to gain in-demand skills and enter the workforce quickly.
