History
- 1854: The Virginia Mechanics Institute was established as a non-profit, non-stock corporation located at 10th and Marshall Streets.
- 1938: Richmond Vocational School offered instruction in art, automobile mechanics, autobody repair, barbering, beauty culture, furniture restoration, and printing.
- 1943: Richmond Public Schools assumed ownership of the Virginia Mechanics Institute property.
- 1946: Richmond Vocational School ceased operations.
- 1968: The Adult Evening Technology Center was founded to provide technical training for adult learners.
- Today: Now recognized as the Richmond Adult Technical Center, the institution is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and continues to offer a comprehensive range of career and technical education programs.
Purpose
Caeer and Technical Education (CTE) programs are offered in the evenings for adults preparing for CTE professions.
